About Dr. Atip Asvanund
Wisdom, strategy and responsibility for the future
Dr. Atip Asvanund is an executive, strategist, technology scholar and public communicator whose work brings together AI, strategy, leadership, ethics, dharma and the human future.
Educated at the University of Chicago and Carnegie Mellon University, he has experience spanning the technology sector, major organizations and national-level public policy. He makes complex issues clear without oversimplifying them, guided by a deeper question: what kind of human future should we use technology and power to build?
He shares his perspectives on YouTube, Facebook and TikTok with a combined audience of several hundred thousand, covering AI, strategy, society, history, dharma and the cultivation of inner stillness.
His career spans academia, technology, business, public policy and public engagement — from research on social networks and online communities to executive roles in telecommunications and digital industries, and policy work that connects business, government and academia.
From technology to understanding people
Dr. Atip holds BA and BS degrees from the University of Chicago, and MS and PhD degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied on a full scholarship.
His doctoral research examined social network analysis and online communities — at the intersection of technology, data, human behavior and social structure — before digital platforms and social media became the global forces they are today.
That work led him to see technology as more than a set of tools and to ask a deeper question:
How does technology change people, organizations, societies and structures of power — and what principles should guide its use?
Experience in business and policy
Dr. Atip has held executive and strategic roles at the convergence of telecommunications, media and digital industries, alongside public-policy work and contributions to the development of Thailand’s digital ecosystem.
He is currently Executive Director of the Digital Council of Thailand, where he helps bring together the private sector, government and academia to advance the digital economy, technology, innovation and national competitiveness.
His experience inside major organizations and in policy forums has grounded his perspective in the realities of implementation: power structures, resource allocation, organizational change, law, policy and their effects on people.
