Path, Fruition, Stream-Entry & Liberation
บุคคล 7 ประเภท การว่ายข้าม "วัฏสงสาร" จากผู้จมดิ่งสู่พระอรหันต์ พระโสดาบันขึ้นไปถึงจะเห็นฝั่ง
Summary
The Puggalapaññatti likens saṃsāra to a wide flood and sorts people into seven kinds by where they are in the crossing.
The first three have not sighted the far shore: the one who sinks, the one who surfaces and sinks again, and the one treading water.
From the stream-enterer onward the shore is in sight, rising through to the arahant who has crossed.
Key points
The image gives position, not judgment
Its use is in locating yourself, without needing to compare with anyone else.
Sighting the shore is the decisive line
Before and after stream-entry differ in that the direction is now known.
The one who surfaces and sinks again is the warning
The text names it as its own category, which says that regression is a real possibility.
All seven are in the same water
What differs is heading and distance, not that anyone is in a different world.
